Mad George opened its doors to the public on April Fools’ Day 2007 having pre-offered free ice creams to the first 1,000 people. The day ended with the owners, Mark and Paul Taylor, having given away over 2,000 ice creams.

“We were determined not to disappoint anyone, and could not turn away people who had been queuing for ages just because we had reached 1,000. It was touch and go whether we would get to 5.30 before we ran out of ice cream, but we finally closed with a couple of scoops left”. |

It is no surprise that this is a real success story for Mark and his brother Paul, as a very warm welcome greets you when you step into Mad George Ice Cream Parlour. They have made over 100 flavours so far. With 16 on offer daily, there is always something new to try.
Only seven months after opening Mad George Vanilla has won a Diploma of Merit at the Ice Cream Alliance, National Ice Cream Competition, and Diplomas for their Coconut Surprise and Banana ice creams. With over 1500 entrants this was a truly remarkable achievement.
Mark has now introduced an exciting range of sweet and savoury crepes, freshly made to order, while you watch. Coffee and hot chocolate sales are also really beginning to take off, as the weather gets colder.
Now it is November the special Christmas flavours Christmas Pudding, Mince Pie and Orange & Cinnamon are available, not only in cones and tubs, but also to take away and enjoy at home in ½ Litre, 1 Litre and 2 Litre tubs; the Perfect Treat on Christmas afternoon or Boxing Day.
The first summer has been a great success, and the future looks good for Mad George.
