A visual treat awaits you in Abbotsbury Road when you step inside this exquisite shop owned by mother and daughter team Pamela Ireland and Marie Purseglove.
Opened in October 2006, Marie and Pam saw a gap in the market, for quality affordable Wedding, Ball Prom and Cruise wear. The ranges of size stocked are from size 2 to 30.
They aim to please and find the ‘dress of your dreams’ and will only carry a few of the same designs in different sizes and colours so the chance of seeing the same outfit at your function will be avoided. With Prom nights coming up they take a note of which school prom is being attended, by whom, with which dress to avoid duplication where ever possible.
Their first year has been a great success with positive feedback and lots of ‘thank you ‘ messages from extremely satisfied customers.
Prom Dress prices range from £150 to £300 and Wedding dresses from £300 to £900.
And a professional alteration service is on hand for perfect fittings at competitive prices.
Bridal Wear Stockists include Margaret Lee, Pure Bridal, Dzage, Tia Bridal – part of the Benjamin Roberts Range, Crystal Breeze and Venus Bridals.
Ball Gowns Cruise wear and Prom Dresses are by Bella Formals, Crystal Breeze, Margaret Lee, Xcite, Attire and Dynasty.
As well as gowns attractive accessories are stocked to complement the outfit – bags, shoes, tiaras jewellery and garters.
If you are after something different for that extra special occasion be sure to visit this outlet and be spoilt for choice with friendly informed personal service.

Owner David Nicholls
Opened in the Spring of 2005 – a fusion of food and art.
David is a qualified sculptor and caterer and is combining both his skills in this venture.
He was born in Oxford then moved to Spain or his last 3 years of school before returning to attend Oxford for Catering Qualifications at College. After qualifying he worked in various restaurants and hotels in Spain and Gibraltar as a chef. Then he returned to live in Weymouth 16 years ago and attended Weymouth College as a mature student studying Sculpture and 3D Design and HND level. He used this qualification to hold workshops and help Special Needs students and children to appreciate Sculpture.
In 2004 David decided to buy the property where White Stones is now and convert a ground floor flat and two storey house above into a ‘fusion of food and art’. After obtaining planning permission to change the use, he and a builder worked for a year restructuring the premises to provide a Spanish theme setting for art and sculpture in a cafe environment, with lighting being of great importance to display art pieces to their best advantage. This took a year of hard work and design alterations are ongoing with the Garden area and workshop being upgraded.
Where possible Fairtrade goods and local / organic products are used in the preparation in the cafe and low energy lighting is fitted throughout. David recycles all glass, plastic and cardboard composting all green matter for the garden.
He exhibits local and up and coming artists from the area and sells their pieces, alongside his. He does commission pieces and has one at Weymouth Library to see more of his work click on the website link.
White Stones is hosting poetry evenings called ‘Stones Speak’ for local poets to voice their works in an informal setting - the plan being for regular monthly Tuesday evenings which started in February with a £2 entrance fee, which proved very successful with 40 attending and the next one will be on the first Tuesday in March on 4th from 6.30pm through until 10pm.
